Petey was born healthy on April 28, when he was just a few weeks oldh old he developed an infection that settled into his joints. He cried in pain and went from limping to laying down within days.
He was not given a good prognosis
most joint infections destroy the tissue that holds the bones together & keeps them from rubbing together.
Petey was unable to walk, stand or even hold himself upright. Petey moved into grandmas house where we propped him up on pillows and between pillows on an orthopedic gel mattress, he was on medication for infection and for pain and ice packs for his swelling.
Petey has spent many weeks battling this.. but his attitude and appetite have always been wonderful and anyone who meets Petey falls in love and encourages us to never give up on him.
Once Petey could balance himself a bit better, he came outside twice a day to get some exercise while being held in a nice padded sling held over a large concrete cylinder.
Petey's little back legs were so swollen and so weak he had trouble staying upright
soon his back legs were stronger but he liked to put his front feet in his feed dish to rest
We continued to see improvement slowly and of course Petey's attitude was always positive
so we pressed on.
In June Petey no longer needed pain medication and was moving around quite a bit, putting his feet in his dish, pushing off with his back feet.. he just couldn't hold himself up very well yet...
July 15
Petey decides he no longer needs his sling ..he wants to try and stand draped over his cylinder. He does great until he squirms too far to the side and falls off!
Petey has many two legged and four legged critters who pray for him, think and worry about him and come to visit him.. he loves all the attention.

coming in from our "therapy" the evening Petey refused to lay down,
instead he pushed his back feet out straight and insisted on standing!
He stood wobbley for about a minute before he fell over..

This morning while I finished feeding the crew, Petey walked off his cylinder..
I found him about ten feet away!

We must give credit where credit is due.. Petey is yet another miracle we have been blessed to be a part of,
So today we will share his story
Petey is doing just amazing, running and jumping and playing like any young goat should! he has lost some muscle development and looks a bit thin around the hips.. often looks like he is walking at a bit of an angle but he is just awesome and as sweet as ever!
1 Peter 3:15
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

After that escape we came inside and Petey walked across the living room floor several times! We are excited to see him continue to be healed. He has waited a long time to walk and hopefully will also get to finally play again like a baby goat should!
